14. Through these lessons, how is God moving you to engage with the world?
REFLECT Please read Acts 2:29-33 and take some time to meditate on these verses, then answer the following questions that will help you reflect on what God’s been teaching you:

29 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, 31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. Acts 2:29-33

STUDY GUIDE FOR JUNE 17, 2025
God’s story is amazing. From Genesis to Revelation it’s one unified testament to His greatness, His power and His perfect plan to redeem His Creation. None of that can be disputed, but sometimes the conclusions drawn by human scholars miss the mark. Some say the Law was not given at the first Feast of Pentecost, but no one can claim the Holy Spirit was not given to those who choose to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We’re living proof!
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”.Acts 2:38
Please read Acts 2:22-35 WG Week 2 Day 3 1. How did Peter describe the roles of God, people and prophecy in the death and resurrection of Jesus?
9. What is the significance of Peter’s reference to the patriarch David in this passage?
10. Highlight in your Bible or record in this space attributes (or characteristics) of God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – you find in today’s passage. What conclusions do you draw about God?
Please read Acts 2:36-47 WG Week 2 Day 4 11. What did Peter say the people must do as a response to Peter’s convicting declaration in verse 36? When and how have you responded to that declaration?
12. What did the believers do that tells us about living the Christian life? What does this say about the unity of the Church?
13. How can the actions of the early Church be lived out in today’s Church, and in your own life?
“For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”Acts 2:39

STUDY GUIDE FOR JUNE 10, 2025
In last week’s study we saw and heard again many things Jesus Himself taught. Today we will see a momentous fulfillment of His message. Extra Credit: What is the significance of June 8, 2025 for the Church?
“1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”Acts 2:1-4
Please read Acts 2:1-13 – WG Week 2 Day 1 1. What external sights and sounds did the disciples experience to help them recognize a new reality? What was the inward and unseen reality?
2. Share a time when you experienced the unity the Spirit brings.
3. Why were separate, clearly understood languages necessary on this occasion?
Please read Acts 1:14-21 – WG Week 2 Day 2 4. Whom did Peter say would receive the Holy Spirit? When would they receive Him?
5. On what basis did Peter make his claim about who would receive the Spirit? (v.17; see also Joel 2:28-32 and John 7:37-39.)
6. Who receives the Holy Spirit?
7. If the Holy Spirit dwells in you, how does this passage encourage and compel you to share the truth and invitation of God?
“And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Acts 2:21; Joel 2:32
The Many Parallels of Sinai and Pentecost, by Bob Dodson The great event described in Acts 2, when the Holy Spirit appeared and rested as tongues of fire on individual believers, occurred on the Feast of Pentecost. The same day that the Jews celebrate God’s giving of His Torah on tablets of stone, the Holy Spirit came and wrote His Torah on people’s hearts! This confirmed God’s promise in Jeremiah 31:31-34 and was the promise from the Father that Jesus had told His disciples about in Acts 1:4. A look at these two seminal events in Bible history will reveal some remarkable parallels and similarities and will increase your faith in the awesome God of the Bible! God had planned the Acts 2 events and then He brought them to pass in the framework of the Jewish Feasts that had been set up 1,200 years prior. While this is certainly not an exhaustive list, here are some amazing parallels between these two events that happened 1,200 years apart, to the day! 1. Both events occurred on a mountain (Mt. Sinai and Mt. Zion) known as the mountain of God – Exodus 24:13 & Isaiah 2:3 2. Both events happened to a newly redeemed people. The Exodus marked the birth of the Israelite nation while the Pentecost events recorded in Acts 2 marked the birth of the Church. 3. Both events involved God’s people receiving a gift – Torah and Spirit. 4. In both events the gift was given by God settling on a mountain with the fire of His Spirit. 5. Both events took place at the same time in the same month, 1,200 years apart! 6. The Israelites left Egypt on Passover and 40 days later arrived at Sinai. Moses went up the mountain to see God. Ten days later he came down with the Torah, the Israelites broke the covenant and 3000 people died as a result. Jesus died on Passover and 40 days later went up the Mt. of Olives and was ascended to God. Ten days after Jesus ascended the Holy Spirit came down and 3000 people were saved! 7. Fifty days after sacrificing the Passover lamb, the Israelites received a covenant from God. Fifty days after sacrificing Jesus, our Passover Lamb, believers received a new covenant from God. 8. Both events had similar sounds and symbols-wind, fire, smoke, voices. Think about this in light of the Acts 2 events. 9. The fire at Sinai was one fire visible by all. The fire at Pentecost was individual fires on every person. In the event at Mt. Sinai, the people were kept away from the fire. But in Acts, the fire came to the people. 10. Both events had theophanies, that is God showed up (Exodus 19:18-20 & Acts 2:4). 11. In both events God gave His Torah (Law) to His People and in both cases He sealed the covenant that He had made with them. At Sinai He gave the Law written by His finger on tablets of stone. At Pentecost, He gave the Law written on Tablets of the Heart. 12. In both events a mixed multitude of people were represented (Exodus 12:38 & Acts 2:5). The Torah attempted to change people from the outside (without). The Holy Spirit changes from within. The word “Torah” means teaching. In John 14:26 the Holy Spirit is called the teacher. Think about these parallels! Wouldn’t they have been powerful to the Jewish people that would have been there to celebrate this time long ago when God showed up in fire, wind, smoke and voices? Suddenly, it looks like God is showing up again in the same way that He came before! They see fire and smoke and hear voices and the place is shaking violently! God is back! What is He telling us? Looking at the history of Pentecost and what God did there makes the story of Acts so much deeper and increases our faith in the God of the Bible. His plans for us were made since the beginning of time and are exact down to the last detail. What a mighty God we serve!
Blessed assurance, hope in the Lord – Jesus is alive! So begins our brief study in Acts. He promises power to witness by His Holy Spirit and commands us to “Go!”This is history, not a mystery, preserved for more than 2,000 years for our faith and confidence to tell others about Him and to share His very Words with them. A little review, a little preview. This is another red-letter Bible study! 1“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3, Jesus speaking.
Another new beginning – there is no ending – that’s why He’s sending us…

But whatever He shall hear, He shall speak. And He will show you the things to come. 14 He shall glorify Me. For He shall receive that which is Mine and shall show it to you.” John 16:12-14, Jesus Speaking
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8, Jesus Speaking
Next Sunday, June 8th, the Church worldwide will celebrate Pentecost Sunday, a celebration of the day God’s Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus’ believers who were waiting in Jerusalem for “the Promise of the Father”, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, which Jesus had promised them before His Ascension:
4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;5for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”Acts 1:4-5
It is the day when the Holy Spirit came to the Church in Acts 2, fulfilling prophecy and the promise of Jesus. It is celebrated as the “Birthday of the Church”. It occurred 50 days after Jesus’ Resurrection and 10 days after His Ascension, both historically significant periods of time foreshadowing this auspicious event. Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” John 1:19
It’s so great that Bible Study Fellowship WordGo courses delve so deeply into these old familiar passages of the Bible for us so that we may see them in a new light, own them, love them, be forever changed by them, and therefore love, cherish, exalt and glorify God more and more. Almost the entire discussion last week was about God the Father – the Son, the Spirit – things almost too wonderful to put into words. May He take us even deeper in our knowledge of Him today.
Please take the time to pray over these questions, and ask God for that liberal wisdom He promises in James 1:5, so we may share with each other what He teaches us. And try to take the time to look at the cross-references for each of these verses, to learn what the Bible, the Word of God, says about the topics found in the questions: the people’s relationships, Jesus’ identity, the religious leaders, John’s response and example, and our response to all of this. Yes it’s a lot, but it’s worth it!
Please read John 1:19-51and answer the following Questions (for those of you using the WordGo App, these Questions are from WordGo’s Week 2, “Behold the Lamb of God”, Days 1 & 2).
1. Scan this week’s passage. What is shown about how questions impact people’s relationships?
2. Which of the phrases describing Jesus Christ’s identity seems most meaningful to you right now, and why?
Please reread John 1:19-28and answer the following Questions:
3. What do the religious leaders’ questions reveal about their concerns?
4. How did John’s responses explain his identity and point to the Messiah? (See Isaiah 40:1-11.)
5. What attitude or action seen in John the Baptist’s example would you like to follow?
And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.” John 1:51
“For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift].” John 1:16, AMP
Last week in our discussion about John the Baptist we received the most amazing testimony from God the Holy Spirit about the sanctity of life. Despite the verses being so familiar, He showed them to us in a new and profound way to venerate the value of even the preborn. When baby John “leaped in his mother’s womb”, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, and then so did Mary! And this preborn saga is recorded in God’s Word and has been preserved for every generation since. Here is a link to “100 Verses About God Knowing Us Before We Were Born”: https://www.openbible.info/topics/god_knew_us_before_we_were_born
Please read John 1:14-18 and answer the following Questions (for those of you using the WordGo App, these Questions are from WordGo’s Week 1, “The Word Revealed”, Days 5 & 6).
12. How does verse 14 present Jesus as the unique Son of God, implying that His divine nature is altogether different from human beings created by Him?
13. Verses 16-18 are probably the Apostle John’s testimony to Jesus Christ. What kinds of blessings might John have been thinking of that we still receive today?
14. What characteristics or actions of God the Father and God the Son have these verses made known to you? We’ve completed WordGo’s Week 1 in John. Well done! More questions for discussion January 23:

“There it was—the true Light [the genuine, perfect, steadfast Light] which, coming into the world, enlightens everyone.”John 1:9, AMP
Last week we learned that John 1:1-18 serves as a prologue for John’s Gospel. It touches on several themes that will recur throughout the Gospel: life, the opposition of light and darkness, the world, belief and spiritual birth, truth, glory, and Father and (by implication) Son. The teaching that Jesus is God is tasted throughout the whole of John’s Gospel in the same way as sugar is tasted in sweetened tea. We have already seen that Jesus is eternal, the Creator, and the Light of men, as John the Baptist clearly witnessed. And sadly we have also already seen His rejection.
Please read John 1:6-9and answer the following Questions (for those of you using the WordGo App, these Questions are from WordGo’s Week 1, “The Word Revealed”, Days 3 & 4).
6. (Note for today’s study: John 1:6-9 and 1:15 are about John the Baptist, not the Apostle who wrote this Gospel.) What do these verses reveal about John the Baptist’s purpose and his aim in life? (You can learn more about him from Luke 1 and 3.)
7. Who do you most often talk about, and why? Who may need to hear you speak more freely about Jesus Christ?
8. How have past experiences and circumstances shaped your personal aims, and how do you view your purpose today?
Please read John 1:10-13 and answer the following Questions:
9. Who were Christ’s “own” who did not receive Him, and how do people today reject Him? (See Romans 3:1-2 and 9:4-5.)
10. What must a person do to become a child of God, and how does this differ from the other kinds of birth mentioned?
11. What have the concepts of receiving Christ and becoming a child of God meant in your life up to this point?
Study Guide for Tuesday, January 9, 9am
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1, NKJV
“He spoke, and galaxies whirled into place, stars burned the heavens, and planets began orbiting their suns – words of awesome, unlimited, unleashed power. He spoke again, and the waters and lands were filled with plants and creatures, running, swimming, growing, and multiplying – words of animating, breathing, pulsing life. Again he spoke, and man and woman were formed, thinking, speaking, and loving – words of personal and creative glory. Eternal, infinite, unlimited – He was, is and always will be the Maker and Lord of all that exists (NLT Life Application Study Bible).”
